Force Protection received $42.5 million order

Mine-resistant vehicle manufacturer Force Protection Inc. has received a new order under an existing contract to provide service, support and spare parts for the Marine Corps System Command.

Work under the order, which is worth $42.5 million, is expected to be completed by December 2009 through Force Dynamics LLC, the company’s joint venture with General Dynamics Land Systems.

“We remain proud of and grateful for the strong relationship we have developed with the United States Marine Corps, our largest customer,” said Michael Moody, Force Protection’s chairman and CEO. “We continue to see and respond to the need for service and support for their fleet of vehicles and are pleased to have increased levels of visibility into our 2009 revenue stream.”

Ladson-based Force Protection develops and manufactures ballistic- and blast-protected wheeled vehicles. Their products are deployed by the U.S. military and its allies to support armed forces and security personnel in conflict zones, including Afghanistan and Iraq.
